Breed Description: 

The Catahoula Bulldog breed of dog is laid back but alert when necessary. Intelligent and easy to train. They are loyal and devoted to their family. They love to please and are tolerant of children. They make a good watchdog or guard dog. They should be well-socialized from a young age.

Height: 
These dogs stand 24 to 26 inches tall at the shoulder.
Weight: 
The Catahoula Bulldog breed of dog usually weighs 75 to 100 pounds.
Exercise: 
These are large dogs that do require regular exercise for good health and to prevent behavior problems. A long daily walk is a minimum requirement.
Life Expectancy: 
The lifespan of the Catahoula Bulldog breed of dog is estimated to be 12 to 13 years.
Grooming: 
The Catahoula Bulldog breed of dog has minimal grooming requirements since it has a short, dense coat. It requires regular brushing to maintain good health and to prevent excessive shedding. Regular ear cleaning is also necessary to prevent ear infections.
Origin: 
The Catahoula Bulldog breed of dog has been known in the southern United States for more than 100 years. The dog has been used for herding, catching hogs and for hunting Black bear. In 1951, Mr. Stodghill of the Animal Research Foundation began registration of Catahoula Bulldogs. In 1962 Bart Perry of Midlothian, Texas had been active in raising the American Bulldog. In 1968 he became the first ARF Certified Breeder of Catahoula Bulldogs.
