Breed Description: 

The Carkie breed of dog can have a feisty terrier temperament in keeping with his two terrier parents. Both of the parent breeds are tough little dogs. He may also be very intelligent and loving. It’s a good idea to socialize a Carkie puppy well from a young age.

Height: 
The Carkie breed of dog can stand up to 10 inches tall at the shoulder.
Weight: 
These little dogs can weigh from four to 14 pounds.
Exercise: 
These are small dogs but they do require regular exercise to maintain good health and to avoid behavior problems.
Life Expectancy: 
The lifespan of the Carkie may be from 10 to 15 years.
Grooming: 
Grooming will depend on whether the coat resembles the Cairn parent or the Yorkshire Terrier parent. Both coat types will require regular brushing. The Cairn coat type will also require regular trimming around the facial hair. The Shih Tzu coat type may require extra brushing and some coat conditioning to look good. Regular ear cleaning is important for all Carkies in order to prevent ear infections.
