Breed Description: 

The Cao de Fila de Sao Miguel breed of dog is a medium-large working dog and they require a great deal of socialization if they are to be kept as pets, especially if they are to be around children. They do best if they have good training. The breed’s temperament is described as “variable” and “aggressive.” These dogs are kept primarily as guard dogs and companions today. They are said to be very intelligent. They can be very territorial.
