Breed Description: 

The Canadian breed of horse is an excellent riding and driving horse, a good jumper, and a flashy trotter. Some Canadians are still used as work horses. They make good all-around family horses. Their heads are short, straight, rectangular, and wide between the eyes. The neck is strong and arched, the rump heavily muscled, and the chest deep and wide. The Canadian breed of horses is usually black, but may also be a very dark brown or bay. Manes and tails are long and usually wavy.

Genetic research has revealed that the Canadian is closely related to the Morgan horse, which it also resembles physically.
