Breed Description: 

Height: 
The Bucovina Shepherd breed of dog stands 25 to 30 inches tall at the shoulder.
Weight: 
be in accordance with their size but they are usually quite massive.
Health Problems: 
These dogs also have long ears so you will need to provide regular ear cleaning to keep them from developing ear infections.
Exercise: 
The Bucovina Shepherd breed of dog needs frequent regular exercise. These dogs have been active outdoor dogs for centuries and they require exercise to avoid common behavior problems. They should also be well-socialized when they are young to avoid being overly protective or suspicious of strangers. Like many dogs, they may require some work or fun activities to keep them occupied.
Grooming: 
The Bucovina Shepherd breed of dog has a thick, abundant coat. It does require regular brushing and grooming to keep it looking good and to remain free of mats. These dogs also have long ears so you will need to provide regular ear cleaning to keep them from developing ear infections.
Origin: 
The Bucovina Shepherd has been known for centuries in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. There are actually three types of Romanian shepherd dogs: the Mioritic (with the old name of Barac), the Carpatin (old name Zavod) and the Bucovina Shepherd. All three types of shepherds are often referred to as Bucovina Shepherds. The first written standard for the breed was created in 1982 and was updated in 2001 by the Romanian Kennel Club. The present breed standard dates from 2002. The breed expects to be recognized by the FCI soon.
