Dog

Pronunciation:
baw-still-uhn
Breed Description:

The Bostillon breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Papillon with the Boston Terrier. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Bostillon will have qualities of both parents. Usually they look like a Boston Terrier with the butterfly wing ears of the Papillon. The breed is usually a small sized breed of dog that is robust and compact. They should have a build that is fairly square, with the length equaling the height and they should have a broad chest. The head should be broad and square with a short muzzle. The ears are large and they are usually erect and set high on the head, although some can have drop ears. The tail is usually long.

The coat of the Bostillon is usually short and sleek. It should have a hard texture to it and should cover the dog completely. Many Bostillons have long feathering on their ear that resemble the Papillon parent. While they can be any color commonly found in the parent breeds, the Bostillon is usually black with white markings.

Temperament:
The Bostillon breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. They are generally a very affectionate and loyal breed that loves to be with their owners, however, they are not always as clingy as other breeds. The Bostillon is usually playful and are often described as a breed with a clown like temperament. They can be very sweet and are usually good with other dogs and pets. The Bostillon is not recommended for homes with young children but are better suited to homes with older, more considerate children. The breed is usually wary of strangers but will warm up to new people.

Life Expectancy:
10 to 14 years
Grooming:
The Bostillon breed of dog usually has the short coat of the Boston Terrier so they can be very easy to groom. Generally, one or two brushing a week will keep them tidy and you can also wipe them down on a weekly basis to keep them free of dirt. Ears should be cleaned on a weekly basis and the eyes and wrinkles should be wiped on a daily basis. The nails of the Bostillon should be clipped once or twice a month and the dog should be bathed only when it is needed. If the ears have the long Papillon hair, then the hair should be brushed out two or three times a week to prevent matting.
Origin:
The Bostillon breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Bostillon, it is important to read up on the Papillon and the Boston Terrier.
