Dog
The Bordernese breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Bernese Mountain Dog with the Border Collie. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Bordernese will have qualities of both parents. The breed can range in size from medium to large but regardless of size, they should be a well-balanced and proportioned dog. They should have a robust build that is closer to the Bernese Mountain Dog, however, tehy should have lean legs and the wedge shaped head of the Border Collie. The top line should be level and the length should be slightly longer than the height. The ears are usually medium in size and fold to the side. The tail is usually long.
The coat of the Bordernese is usually a very long and thick coat that is similar to the Bernese Mountain Dog. It should have a thick, soft undercoat and a longer top coat that covers the dog completely. The texture should be medium to the touch. The Bordernese usually comes in the same color as the Bernese Mountain Dog with the primarily black coat with white markings and tan points.
