BodyTalk : Does your pet struggle with behavioral problems and stress? by resident TGPC expert Danica Holoviak

Your pet may be trying to tell you something.  'Bad behavior' is often misinterpreted and scolded.  Your pet may not be feeling physically well or could be experiencing stress in his environment. When an animal comes into a family and becomes a companion, he or she acts by instinct to find his or her place in the new family group.  For some this leads to internal conflict and stress.  Other animals may take on physical, emotional and energetic stresses of their human family members.  There may be one person in particular that they seem close to and have a striking similarity with in personality or physical complaints.  My parents' Samoyed is a great example of this.  She was being treated for diabetes and arthritis years before my father was diagnosed.

In another example, a dancer who suffers from pain (perhaps early signs of arthritis) in her hip joints has a beautiful Golden Retriever who also struggles with a lack of mobility, pain, and lessened muscle coordination and strength in her hind legs. Taking care of our pets requires more than just caring for their physical needs.  Animals undergo stress and environmental and physical trauma just as often as humans, which can lead to disease or structural imbalances. Animals have a natural desire to be healthy and well.  In the wild, instinct helps guide and heal animals when they get injured or sick.  Many, like bears, know exactly which plants and foods to eat in the spring to help get their metabolisms and immune systems strengthened after the long winter hibernation.  Animals living in human environments, however, often experience stress and complex social, emotional, physical, and behavioral health issues that are not as easily resolved.

  • The BodyTalk System is a simple and effective holistic health care therapy.  Holistic in that it cares for all levels of being in an animal or human -- physical, mental, and emotional.  It is designed to help the body repair and prevent disease while accelerating the healing process.
  • AnimalTalk was created specifically for animals, applying the BodyTalk system for animals.  It helps balance body/mind energy and address physical, emotional and behavioral concerns.  It is not the same as animal communication, which is a telepathic communication.
  • AnimalTalk works by enhancing and healing the connection between all the systems, cells, and atoms in the body, stimulating the body’s innate ability to balance and heal itself.  Once the body understands how to heal, it will experience accelerated physical healing plus alleviation of issues such as stress, fear, separation anxiety and undesirable behaviors.
  • AnimalTalk facilitates balance, frequently leading to improved physical and emotional health, increased wellbeing, and enhanced performance.
  • AnimalTalk offers a unique approach to animal health and wellbeing by involving the entire family in the sessions, and acknowledges the unique bond that exists between you and your companion. Our pets are integral members of our families.  They deal with more stress than we may realize.

I am often amazed at the bond between humans and animals and the depth of understanding and care that animals have for their human family.  They are challenged with very deep issues and concerns, which are often strikingly similar to things other family members might be experiencing.    AnimalTalk is effective with chronic and acute health problems and can be seamlessly integrated with any health care regimen to increase overall wellbeing.  It is safe, simple, and non-invasive.  It is at its best when treating the entire family, rather than isolating the injured or diseased member.

* A woman came to me with her English Bulldog, who had been in the hospital recently for pneumonia.  He was having trouble breathing, couldn't lay down because that pressed on his lungs, and therefore wasn't able to sleep for more than a few minutes at a time.  His AnimalTalk session focused on his fears and worries about his family and doing his job of taking care of them.  He reminded me of those big, strong, silent types who suffer in silence and never think to ask for help.  The session: 'I give myself permission to let go, grieve, release.'  Reminding his diaphragm to relax, move more fully, fill with air and push out fluid.  Re-connect immune system to 'see' the bacteria as foreign and needing to come out of his lungs.  Resolve the misunderstanding that he had to physically hold onto and carry each family member's negative emotional energies to protect the rest of the family.  Remember to trust that if you relax your muscles (auxillary breathing muscles) you will still be able to breathe (diaphragm action), and resetting his breathing rhythm to a more normal resting breath cycle. During the session his breathing eased and felt less labored.  A few minutes after the session, he started coughing up large amounts of watery, mucous and was then able to lay down and rest.  That night and the next few days he showed remarkable improvement: asking for food, wanting affection, a return of his personality.  All he needed was to let go and get some sleep! I also gave a session to the owner, helping her to be less worried and fearful about her dog, which in turn helped him to have less emotional energies to cope with and gave him the space to heal.

* I worked with a friend's cat who preferred to hide most of the day, especially if anyone new came into the apartment.  Our session worked with his need to feel safe in his environment, within the apartment and in Manhattan generally, his sensitivity and anxiety related to the noises and energies of city living, and also 'permission to receive love'.  During the session he clawed his cardboard scratch-board and paced around -- signs of processing and integrating the session.  Since his session, he spends much more time out in the apartment, is social, seeks affection, and can even tolerate being around a toddler.

* A Briard was experiencing a tremor in her head and neck.  It occurred occasionally and would last 2-4 minutes.  It didn't seem to concern her much, but was upsetting to her owner.  I gave her a distance session, which centered around a recent move, a new flea medication, and the intense summer heat, which seemed to have triggered an overwhelm for her brain.  She probably could have handled each of those stresses alone, but when they all hit together this summer, her body could not cope.  In her session: Strengthening her body's ability to assimilate - both digestion and life experience.  Helping her to release old fears and heal her body's ability to utilize water (hydration) for her muscles and brain tissues.  She has not had a recurrence of the tremor. * A King Charles Spaniel suffers from adrenal issues, ear infections, allergies (mucousy eyes), and bad breath.  Over several sessions her eyes cleared, breath improved, she had more energy to go on walks and had fewer accidents.  Her sessions covered many concerns from fear of loud noises to boosting her immune system to digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Animals usually respond very well (and often better than many humans) to sessions.  Help your pet feel its best, recover from chronic health and behavioral issues, and be less vulnerable to disease.   Danica Holoviak is a certified BodyTalk practitioner and an AnimalTalk Access practitioner.  She lives in Brooklyn and offers distance sessions and in-person sessions in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Animal Talk : LOESJE

BodyTalk works on pets and other animals, as well, addressing illnesses and injuries and improving overall health. In a special program dubbed AnimalTalk, pet owners and animal caretakers can take care of creatures who can't explain their problems or the extent of their pain.

AnimalTalk Access techniques can be applied within a clinical setting for licensed veterinarians, vet technicians, shelter workers and other trained professionals. AnimalTalk Access can also be learned by virtually anyone to use with their own animal companions at home. There are five basic AnimalTalk techniques that can be combined into a daily regimen which, when applied, has a significant impact on an animal's health status.

When people first use the AnimalTalk Access program, they notice changes in the general health and stress status of their animal companions. Sometimes the changes are dramatic, i.e. a highly agitated animal calms down immediately. Sometimes the improvements are gradual and do not register for a number of weeks, i.e. an animal's severely itchy skin becomes healthier and the animal ceases obsessive scratching habits.

Once an animal's health has stabilized into a healthier pattern, the preventive capabilities of the techniques help maintain that balance, preventing new health issues from arising. The Access techniques can also be used to complement an animal's veterinarian care and accelerate healing.

In addition, AnimalTalk Access can be used to enhance performance and reduce anxiety. For instance, if you are working on training your dog, Access can be used to increase its ability to pay attention and learn quickly. Because AnimalTalk Access can be used to reduce nervousness of an animal, the techniques can be a tremendous tool for animal health care professionals to calm their anxious clients, increasing the animal's comfort and the safety of the staff.
