Breed Description:

The Blue Spaniel breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Cocker Spaniel with the Australian Cattle Dog. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Blue Spaniel will have qualities of both parents. They are a medium sized breed of dog that should have the appearance of a dog with ample endurance. They should be robust and compact without appearing too course or heavy and they should be well-proportioned. The breed should be slightly longer than they are tall with a level topline. The tail should be long and the slightly domed head should be well formed and in proportion to the body. The ears should be long and should hang down the side of the head.

The coat of the Blue Spaniel should consist of two layers with a longer top layer that is close lying with feathering on the tail, belly, ears and legs. The undercoat should be short and dense and should provide water resistance. The color can be any of the parent breeds but the most commonly is primarily white with blue markings

Temperament:
The Blue Spaniel breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. This is a breed that loves to work and because of this, the Blue Spaniel can adapt to a number of jobs presented to it. The Blue Spaniel is very active and while they do have a mind of their own, they can be trained quite easily. The breed is usually very good with children of all ages and they generally do well with other dogs and pets. This loyal breed can be very affectionate but they can also be reserved with strangers.
