Breed Description: 

The Bich-poo breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Bichon Frise with the Poodle. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Bich-poo will have qualities of both parents. It can range in size depending on the size of the Poodle used for crossing but in general, the breed is a small breed that is compact and sturdily built. They are usually longer than they are tall and they have small ears that hang down the side of their head. They generally have the looks of a Poodle but the substance of the Bichon Frise.

The coat of the Bich-poo can vary but the desired coat should be medium to long and it should have a slight wave to loose curls. There should never be tight curls in the coat and it should have a wool-like texture to it. The colors of the coat can be any but the most common are silver, cream and white.

Temperament: 
The Bich-poo breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. They are known for being a very sweet dog that is intelligent and affectionate. They generally learn very quickly and tend to thrive when they can spend ample time with their owners. The breed can be very energetic and playful and are usually happy to perform. The Bich-poo does very well with other dogs and pets and can thrive in a multi-pet home. They are usually reserved with strangers but our very affectionate and loyal to those in their family. The Bich-poo usually does well with children of all ages.

The average height for a Bich-poo is between 6 to 12 inches.
Weight: 
The average weight for a Bich-poo is between 6 to 15 pounds.
Health Problems: 
The Bich-poo breed of dog has no known health problems, however, it is important to read up on the Bichon Frise and the Toy or Miniature Poodle to be aware of the health problems your puppy may be at risk for.
Living Conditions: 
The Bich-poo breed of dog can do well in an apartment if they are properly exercised. They should not be outdoor dogs as this breed thrives when they are with their owners.
Exercise: 
The Bich-poo breed of dog is an active breed that requires between 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day. Generally, two good walks will meet their needs but it is also important to give them an opportunity for off leash exercise as well.

12 to 15 years
Grooming: 
The Bich-poo breed of dog is usually clipped for easier grooming and when they are, they can be extremely easy to care for. Clipping should be done once or twice a year and the head should be clipped once a month. Brushing should be done once a week, unless they are in full coat when they should be brushed daily. The Bich-Poo should be bathed once a month and the ears should be kept clean to prevent ear infections.
Origin: 
The Bich-poo breed of dog is a designer `hybrid`breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Bich-poo, it is important to read up on both the Bichon Frise and the Poodle. It is important to note that some breeders are working to see the Bich-poo recognized as an official breed and to have it breed true to form, however, it is still considered to be a designer breed and so far, there are no strict guidelines for breeding.
