Breed Description:
The Belgian breed of horse, also called the Brabant, is one of the strongest of the heavy draft breeds. They are large and powerful, almost always chestnut with a lighter flaxen mane. They are popular choices for exhibition driving, although many still work on farms today. The Belgian has also been influential in the development of many warmblood breeds.

Belgians have also been identified to be at risk for chronic progressive lymphedema, a chronic progressive disease that includes symptoms of progressive swelling, hyperkeratosis and fibrosis of distal limbs.
