Dog
The Bea-Tzu breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Shih Tzu and the Beagle. Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next. Generally, the Bea-Tzu will have qualities of all the parents. They are a small to medium sized breed of dog that should be compact while still maintaining a slender and athletic build. The body is usually slightly longer than the dog is tall and the top line is usually level. The Bea-Tzu usually has a broad head that seems a bit larger than the rest of the body and the skull is usually slightly domed. The muzzle is medium in length, right in between the long muzzle of the Beagle and the short muzzle of the Shih Tzu and has a slightly square shape. The long ears hang down the side of the head and the tail is usually long and carried low.
The coat of the Bea-Tzu can range from the short, hard coat of the Beagle to the long silky coat of the Shih Tzu, however, the most common is a medium length coat with both a top and undercoat. There should be a fluffy appearance to the dog and the coat should be medium in texture. The Bea-Tzu can be found in any colors of the parent breeds but the most common are white and black, black, white, white and tan, and tan.
