Dog
Basset Fauve de Bretagne Champions
The Basset Fauve de Bretagne breed of dog is a medium sized dog that should be low to the ground and sturdy in appearance. While they have an elongated body, they shouldn't be as elongated as other Basset breeds. The top line should be level and strong and the overall look should be of a dog with ample stamina. The head of the Basset Fauve de Bretagne should be narrow, however, it should taper slightly to the muzzle. The ears are long and set low on the head. They should hang and should be slightly turned. The tail should be medium in length and should be carried in a sickle like fashion.
The coat should be short but have a rough and harsh texture to it. There should be a slightly wiry look, although the hair on the face should not appear too bushy but there should be evidence of face furnishings. The color of the Basset Fauve de Bretagne should be a solid fawn color, although this can range in shade from a red fawn to a pale golden fawn. There can be a small patch of white on the chest and a few black hairs in the coat, however, a solid coat is preferred.
