Dog
Basset, Bleu de Gascogne Champions
The Basset Bleu de Gascogne breed of dog is a medium sized breed of dog that should be low to the ground and have a low slung build. They should be elongated with a longer body than they are tall. The build should be sturdy and the dog should look like it has a fair amount of substance without appearing overweight or massive. They should have a level top line and a strong head that is long and narrow. The ears should be long and should hang down the side of the head and the tail should be long and held in a saber like fashion.
The coat of the Basset Bleu de Gascogne should be short and dense. It should cover the dog completely. The coat is usually similar to the Grand Basset Bleu de Gascogne. It is commonly mottled black and white, which creates a blue effect to the coat. The coat can be marked with black patches on either side of the head, which covers the ears, cheeks and eyes, and black patches on the body. They often have a blaze between the black patches on the head and they should have tan markings on the cheeks, under the tail, inside the ears, above the eyes, and on the legs.
