Breed Description: 

The Baluchi breed of horse, also known as the Balouch or Banamba originated in Pakistan (Baluchistan) and is primarily used as a riding horse.  They are reminiscent of the Indian Kathiawari breed in that their head features long, very turned in ears that touch at the tip.  They are a medium sized horse with a fine head, long neck, short back and round, smoothly muscled hindquarters.  The legs are strong yet fine with clear joints, well defined tendons and very strong, hard feet.  They are mostly black, brown, bay or grey in color.  They are known for stamina, good conformation and strength.

The Baluchi breed of horse averages 14 hands in height.
Health Problems: 
The Baluchi breed of horse is a very tough, sound breed with no known health problems.

The Baluchi breed of horse is well adapted for their tough living conditions in Pakistan.
Exercise: 
The Baluchi breed of horse requires no special exercise. They are a sound horse and known for their ability to work hard and fast in pleasure riding or horse sports.
Life Expectancy: 
The Baluchi breed of horse has an average life span for a horse. Depending on management and environment, these horses can live to 25 or 30 years of age.
Grooming: 
The Baluchi breed of horse requires no special grooming. Like all horses, when in work they will enjoy and benefit from daily grooming and should have their feet cleaned out daily as well.
Origin: 
The Baluchi breed of horse is bred in parts of Baluchistan and Sind Provinces and the districts of Bahawlpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzzaffargarh, and Multan in Punjab Provence. Although their exact origin is unknown, there is some evidence that they are related to the Barb through the Malian breed known as the Beledougou or Banamba.
