Breed Description: 

The Balearic breed of horse is an extremely rare horse found on the Island of Majorca.  It is of ancient origin and very little is actually known about it.  These ponies are usually used on small farms for agricultural work or by farmers for transportation by riding or in harness.  Depending on who you ask, they are either pretty little ponies or scrubby tough looking ponies. They are most commonly bay, chestnut or grey in color.

Living Conditions: 
The Balearic breed of horse requires the standard level of care for any horse. Adequate shelter, food and water must be provided.

The Balearic breed of horse has an average life span for a horse. Depending on management and environment, these horses can live to 25 or 30 years of age.
Grooming: 
The Balearic breed of horse requires no special grooming. Like all horses, when in work they will enjoy and benefit from daily grooming and should have their feet cleaned out daily as well.

The Balearic breed of horse is an ancient breed of unknown origin that is native to the Island of Majorca.
