Breed Description:

The Ba-Shar breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Shar Pei with the Basset Hound.  Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks and temperament of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next.  Generally, the Ba-Shar will have qualities of both parents.  They are usually a medium sized dog that has short legs and a elongated body like the Basset Hound.  The ears can be short, rose-shaped ears but are more commonly long and pendulous while the tail usually curls over the back, very similar in shape to the Shar Pei parent. The head is usually rectangular with the blunt muzzle of the Shar Pei.

The coat is usually short and close to the body and it usually covers the dog completely. The Ba-Shar can be found in any of the colors of both breeds, including gray, black and a tri-colored black, tan and white.
