Breed Description:

The Aussie-Corgi breed of dog is a "designer" or mixed breed that was created by crossing the Australian Shepherd with the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  Because of this, a breed type has not been established and the looks of the dog can greatly change from one puppy to the next.  Generally, the Aussie-Corgi will have qualities of both parents with a dense, medium length coat with a long tail that is heavily feathered. The build should be athletic and the dogs tend to be longer than they are tall.  The large ears are heart-shaped and usually have a half fold, although many are carried erect and high on the head.  The body is usually short legged but the dog should have a balanced look.  The Aussie-Corgi can be found in any colors that are common for the parent breeds, however, a tri-colored black, tan and white is very common.  To determine what an Aussie-Corgi may look like, take the time to read up on both the Australian Shepherd and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

Temperament:
The Aussie-Corgi breed of dog is a designer breed and because of this, their temperament can vary greatly. However, they are known for being a happy and energetic breed that is excellent with children of all ages. In fact, the breed is a wonderful family dog that is patient and their natural love of play will make them the right choice for even the most energetic child. The breed is usually very affectionate with people and while they can be laid back, they can be very hyper, especially if they are not exercised enough. The Aussie-Corgi is considered to be very intelligent but sometimes this intelligence is paired with a very stubborn nature.

The average height for an Aussie-Corgi is between 10 to 20 inches.

The average weight for an Aussie-Corgi is between 20 to 30 pounds.
Health Problems:

Living Conditions:
The Aussie-Corgi breed of dog can do well in apartments if they are properly exercised, however, the ideal is a home with a yard.
Exercise:
The Aussie-Corgi is a medium sized dog but that doesn't mean that they have moderate exercise needs. Both of the parent breeds are active so expect to give your Aussie-Corgi about 60 minutes of exercise each day and make sure that you offer them a large amount of intellectual stimulation as well.
Life Expectancy:
12 to 15 years
Grooming:
The Aussie-Corgi breed of dog does require a fair amount of grooming and you should expect to brush them two or three times a week at a minimum. During heavy shedding periods, expect to groom this dog every day and also be prepared for a large amount of hair in your home. The Aussie-Corgi should be bathed about once per month and the hair around the feet and under the ears should be trimmed on a regular basis to prevent matting and infections from occurring.
