Horse
Breed Description:
The Appaloosa breed of horse is an American breed that was developed in the northeastern United States by the Nez Perce tribe. It is easily recognized by its unique coloring.
The Appaloosa is derived from several breeds and thus it appears in various body types and colors, but it is distinguished by its leopard spots, striped hooves and mottled skin. The base coat, upon which the spots are overlaid, may be brown, bay, palomino, grullo, dun, black, buckskin or chestnut.
