Breed Description:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog actually refers to the Chien Francais and is actually the same breed, although the Grand Anglo Francais accepts all three breed colors as one breed and not three individual breed. They are a large sized breed of dog that should be powerful in appearance without appearing course. They should have a level top line that is slightly longer than they are tall and they should have a slight tuck up. The head should be narrow and long, however, it should be in proportion to the body. The ears should be long and should be slightly curled. The tail of the Grand Anglo Francais should be long and tapered to a point.
The coat should be short and dense and should lay close to the skin. They can be black and white, tricolore or orange and white in coloring.
Temperament:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog is an intelligent breed that is known for their energy and dedication for work. This is a hunting dog and they do well working throughout the day. The breed is usually loyal to their family, however, they can be stubborn and do need a firm owner for training. The breed usually does well in a multidog home but they need proper socialization to be accepting of other animals.
Height:
The average height for the Grand Anglo-Francais is between 24.5 to 26.5 inches for a female and 25.5 to 28 inches for a male.

Health Problems:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog is considered to be a very hardy breed and has few known health problems at this time.
Living Conditions:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog is not recommended for apartments. This is a hunting breed and does much better in a home with a large yard or acreage.
Exercise:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog is a very active breed and requires 45 to 60 minutes of exercise each day.

Grooming:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog is a very easy breed to groom and they require little to no maintenance to keep their coats healthy. On average, you should expect to brush your dog on a weekly basis to remove dead hairs and dirt. A wipe down with a damp cloth will keep them clean and they should only be bathed when it is absolutely necessary. Ears should be cleaned on a regular basis and nails should be clipped once or twice a month.
Origin:
The Grand Anglo-Francais breed of dog was developed in France and is the result of crossbreeding the Gascon Saintongeois with the Poitevin and the English Foxhounds. The breed was developed in the late 19th Century and was commonly used for hunting large game. They are considered to be an uncommon breed. Comments
