Akbash Dog Champions
The Akbash Dog is a reflection of both mastiff and gazehound origins. The Akbash Dogs have the size, power and a protective nature. With long legs and keen eyesight the Akbash Dog, unlike many recognized western breeds, is distinct and identifiable. The Akbash Dog is the result of centuries of natural selection as a guardian of livestock in Turkey. In addition to the Akbash Dogs' numerous physical attributes they present a stable temperament and an exceptionally well developed maternal instinct. The Akbash Dog demonstrates this temperment through its sensitivity and submissiveness, the nurturing of young animals and livestock as well as a fierce protectiveness when those animals are threatened. Obviously these tendensies should be protected and cared for when breeding.
