Breed Description:

The Airedoodle breed of dog is a medium sized breed of dog that was developed by crossing the Airedale Terrier with the Poodle.  The result was a square build dog that is athletic in appearance. The head should be well balanced and is usually rectangular in shape with small ears that hang down the side of the head. The top line is level and the overall appearance is of a muscular dog.  The tail is usually medium in length.

The coat of the Airedoodle should consist of both a soft, short undercoat and a wiry topcoat that is slightly longer. The top coat should can have a tight curl to it but usually it is the wiry coat that is commonly found on the Airedale Terrier.  The coat color can be cream, white, black, red and tan but they are commonly tan with black or gray markings on the back similar to the Airedale Terrier.

Temperament:
The Airedoodle breed of dog is a happy and lively dog that is described as being very loyal and affectionate. Many of them often have the sense of humor associated with their Airedale Terrier parent and this makes very clown-like in their temperament. They are usually very good with children and can be an ideal family pet. They also do well with other dogs and cats but they may not be suitable for homes with small pocket pets since the Airedoodle does have a strong prey drive. The breed can be difficult to train and they can become very stubborn if they find training boring. If you keep it fun and short, the Airedoodle is very intelligent and will learn quickly.
Height:
The average height of an Airedoodle is between 22 to 26 inches.
Weight:
The average weight of an Airedoodle is between 45 to 65 pounds.

Living Conditions:
The Airedoodle breed of dog is a versatile breed when it comes to living conditions. They can do well in both apartments and homes as long as their exercise needs are met, although the ideal is a home with a fenced yard. Make sure you offer them a fence since the Airedoodle can have a very strong prey drive and may chase neighborhood animals.

The Airedoodle breed of dog is a very energetic breed and require at least 30 to 60 minutes of exercise per day. They do have excess stores of energy and if they are not properly exercised they can become very destructive. Airedoodles make excellent jogging companions.
Life Expectancy:
10 to 15 years
Grooming:
The Airedoodle breed of dog can be fairly easy to groom and should only need to be brushed once a week to keep the coat healthy and tidy. In addition to brushing, you will need to strip the coat every few months to remove dead hairs. The ears should be cleaned on a weekly basis and the nails should be clipped once or twice a month. The coat of the Airedoodle can be clipped to make it even easier to care for and if it is, you should expect to do it every 6 to 8 weeks.
Origin:
The Airedoodle breed of dog is a designer `hybrid` breed that has become popular over the last decade or so. There is no actual origin for the breed and if you are interested in learning more about the Airedoodle, it is important to read up on both the Airedale Terrier and the Poodle.
