Breed Description:

The Affen Spaniel breed of dog is a small sized breed of dog that was created by crossing the Affenpinscher with the Cocker Spaniel. The result was a compact dog with a level top line and a body that is slightly longer than it is tall. The ears are usually drop ears and hang down the side of the head. The tail is usually medium in length but it can be cropped short. The muzzle is usually medium in length and it does not usually have the "monkey" look that is common in the Affenpinscher.

The coat of the Affen Spaniel should be medium in length and hard in texture. It should be almost wiry and there should be a wave to it, although it should not be curled.  The undercoat should be soft, short and slightly wavy.  The coat can be any color but is commonly either tan, black, red, gray, cream. They can also be parti-colored, bi-colored and tri-colored in a range of colors.

Temperament:
The Affen Spaniel breed of dog is a sweet and gentle dog that is a wonderful companion dog. The breed is happy to spend time with their owners and they are often clown like in their personality. They breed may be okay with kids, depending on what parent they take after but if they have the Affenpinscher temperament, then they are better suited to homes with older kids.
