Breed Description:

The Afador breed of dog is a designer breed that was created by crossing the Labrador Retriever with the Afghan Hound.  The result is a medium to large sized breed of dog that is very leggy and has a long body. They usually have the thinner body of the Afghan Hound with a bit more of the Labrador Retrievers sturdy appearance. The head is usually long and resembles a thicker Afghan Hound head. The ears should hang down the side of the head and are usually long.

The coat of the Afador usually consists of two coats, a soft undercoat and a top coat that has long, straight hair. The topcoat is usually very fine but it can range in texture from silky to hard. They can be found in a range of colors including black, yellow, white, beige, and red as well as black and white. In addition, they can have any of hte colors with a dark mask on the face.

Temperament:
The Afador breed of dog is a happy and independent dog that is often described as being a noble breed. They are very intelligent and combine this with a courage that can be quite surprising. The breed usually takes after their Afghan Hound parent and tend to be a bit more reserved with strangers. In addition, they are not eager to please and can be a challenge when it comes to training. They do need a firm and confident owner who can set rules and aren't really recommended for new or timid owners. The breed is usually very affectionate with their owners and they can make a great pet for homes with children, although they may be better suited to homes with older kids. They will chase smaller pets so they are not the best choice for a home with small, non-canine pets.
