Horse
The Aegidienberger breed of horse is a very new breed. In 1994, two German horse enthusiasts from the region of Aegidienberg bred a Peruvian Paso with the Icelandic horse. The goal was to get a gaited horse that would be a little bigger than the Icelandic but would retain its hardiness against the German weather; this new breed would have the elegance and nobility inherent in the Peruvian Paso, and share its ability to navigate difficult terrain. The Aegidienberger breed of horse that resulted is a proud, noble, hardy horse that shares the "tolt" gait of its Icelandic cousin. The Aegidienberger breed of horse is bred to be under saddle, and give a smooth, comfortable ride over any terrain. It is a small horse and easily manageable. All coat colors are acceptable in the breed. This horse enjoys a small but extremely loyal following, and although there is continuous effort to preserve and improve the breed, there have never existed more than 100 individuals at any one time since the inception of the stud book.
